The scientific publisher EDP Sciences is committed to Open Access (2013-04-04)
EDP Sciences, a historical partner of the scientific communities, is rolling out EDP Open, its new Open Access portal. The site is accessible at www.edp-open.org.
"Open Access" (OA) is a movement called for by scientists, research institutions and policies (French Ministry of Research and the European Union) to make the work from public research freely available. EDP Sciences is committed to this path and offers its services for the creation or transfer of OA journals.
EDP OPEN is an international website that brings together an initial list of "Gold Open Access” journals. This list is intended to increase rapidly. The site also provides free access to more than 70,000 scientific articles from subscription-model journals published by EDP Sciences and in free access after an embargo period, or that are immediately published in OA ("Open Access Option "). Finally, the site provides access to hundreds of conferences also published in Open Access.
The EDP Sciences teams are dedicated to the support and editorial support of researchers and their institutions according to the mission that has been entrusted by the learned societies that motivate the publisher. Thus, we are pleased and proud to contribute to the diffusion of knowledge without barriers by choosing to follow the path of free access to their articles in respect of the highest-quality content.
Located in Paris and in Les Ulis (Paris’ suburb), the group EDP Sciences consists of 3 companies: EDP Sciences, EDP Santé and EDK. The total turnover was € 14M in 2012 with a staff of 95 people in France. The group publishes over 55 scientific journals in the physical sciences, mathematics, life and environmental sciences, energy, materials and engineering, health and biomedical sciences. It also publishes 20 professional magazines, conference proceedings (www.webofconferences.org) and books.
