We are delighted to welcome three new members of staff in the EDP Sciences Beijing office. Since EDP Sciences joined forces with Science Press last year, gradual steps have been taken to expand its operations in China. One of the first steps has been to recruit colleagues who are experts locally and who will support both editorial and marketing activities throughout China. We are therefore pleased to introduce:

  • Dr. Yuqing Lin, Publisher
  • Yang Liu (Iris), Marketing Manager
  • Dr. Yuanyuan Liu (Gloria), Publisher

They join an established team led by Ariana Fuga, PhD, Senior Editor Journals & Books / Editorial Development Manager, China and Liping Liu, Business Development Director, China and are fully supported by our Science Press colleagues in the Beijing office.

Before joining EDP Sciences in June 2020, Dr. Lin worked as a research manager at the Control Laser Corporation, USA and as a junior faculty member at the Beijing Institute of Technology, China. He received his PhD and BSc degrees, both in Physics, from the University of Central Florida and Beijing Normal University respectively. As a bench researcher, he has been cited more than 800 times and has an H-index of 7.

“I joined the EDP Sciences Beijing editorial office to serve and contribute to the research community from another perspective” commented Dr. Lin. “In my spare time, I enjoy Chopin and Grieg and support the Orlando Magic basketball team – a real contrast to academic publishing!”

Yang Liu, also known by her English name Iris, graduated from the School of Journalism and Communication of Nanjing University with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She attended the University of Göttingen, Germany as an exchange student doing research in the faculty of sociology. Iris has extensive experience in media and was a director and translator with Jiangsu TV and an editor with CCTV where she was responsible for the "CCTV News" Weibo. She has also worked as a digital editor in the China Coal Science and Technology Publishing and Media Group.

“EDP Sciences was founded in 1920 by one of my favourite scientists, Madame Curie, and other great scientists of the world” Iris told us. “So, I’d like to contribute to EDP Sciences and I look forward to making progress with my colleagues both in China and France. In my spare time, I like playing the piano, watching movies and dubbing as well.”

Dr. Yuanyuan Liu, also known by her English name Gloria, received her Ph.D. degree in Materials Science from the University of Manchester. She obtained her Master’s degree in Materials Physics and Chemistry from the Harbin Institute of Technology and her Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Zhengzhou University. Before joining EDP Sciences, Dr. Liu was a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Biological Science and Medical Engineering in Beihang University. Consequently, she enjoys a deep understanding of materials science and biomedical engineering and extensive research experience in this field.

“I love the work of a Publisher” Dr. Liu revealed. “Within such an extraordinary publishing platform as that of EDP Sciences, I have frequent contact with the most talent scientists all over the world who are involved in cutting-edge research in a broad range of topics. Out of work, I enjoy floriculture and reading.”
