We are pleased to announce that Mechanics & Industry (M&I) has just been accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) where it joins over 16,500 other high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. These journals cover all areas of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, arts and humanities. In addition to the indexation, M&I has also been awarded the DOAJ Seal for “best practice in open access publishing”. This is a wonderful moment for M&I and comes only a few short months after it transitioned to full open access at the start of 2021.

Mechanics & Industry was already celebrating an increased Impact Factor, which now stands at 0.913, when the editorial team received the excellent news from the DOAJ. Indexation in the DOAJ means M&I is in compliance with the open access policy of the DOAJ and meets all the strict criteria required for inclusion. Only around 10% of journals indexed in the DOAJ are awarded the DOAJ Seal, so this is a further mark of recognition and excellence.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to Mechanics & Industry’s editorial team for the indexation in the DOAJ and the award of the DOAJ Seal,” commented Ariana Fuga, Senior Editor Journals & Books, EDP Sciences. “I am well aware of all the hard work to move to open access as smoothly as possible. This work is now bearing fruit and makes M&I an attractive option for authors wishing to publish mechanical sciences research.”

The DOAJ is an independent database the mission of which is to “increase the visibility, accessibility, reputation, usage and impact of quality, peer-reviewed, open access scholarly research journals globally, regardless of discipline, geography or language.”

Mechanics & Industry is an international, peer-reviewed journal with a focus on mechanical sciences and engineering applications. It is led by Editor-in-Chief Professor Régis Dufour, INSA Lyon, France.
