“Quantum Optics of Light and Matter: Honouring Alain Aspect” topical issue from EPJ D
- Details
We are pleased to highlight the recently completed EPJ D topical issue on “Quantum Optics of Light and Matter: Honouring Alain Aspect”. The topical issue examines the discoveries, motivations, and continuing legacy of Alain Aspect, our longstanding colleague.
The topical issue has been guest edited by David Clément, Philippe Grangier (both from Laboratoire Charles Fabry, Institut d’Optique Graduate School, CNRS, Université Paris-Saclay, France) and Joseph H. Thywissen (from the Department of Physics and CQIQC, University of Toronto, Canada). “The original impetus was Alain’s 75th birthday, but the timing was actually better than any of us could have expected: we learned shortly before completing the Issue that Alain was awarded, along with John Clauser and Anton Zeilinger, the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science.”, explain the guest editors in the Editorial.
We hope you enjoy reading the articles and browsing the topical issue.
