The Journal of ExtraCorporeal Technology (JECT) is pleased to announce that it has been accepted into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The journal joins over 20 000 other high-quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals that meet DOAJ's strict criteria and are dedicated to promoting open access to scholarly and scientific content.

In commemoration of the Société Française de Physique's (SFP) 150th anniversary, EDP Sciences has successfully contributed to a series of five Masterclasses titled "Master classes itinérantes". These events, primarily targeting PhD students in physics and related fields, were organized across France. The Masterclasses aimed to enhance participants' skills in scientific writing, while providing insights into scientific publishing and the evolving landscape of Open Science.

We are pleased to announce that two of our journals have been honoured at the 24th Editorial Grand Prix of the Press and Publishing of Healthcare Professions, an event hosted by SPEPS (Syndicat de la Presse et de l’Édition des Professions de Santé). The award ceremony took place on November 22 in Paris. From a total of 154 submitted articles, 14 articles were awarded.

We are thrilled to congratulate Pierre Agostini, Anne L’Huillier, and Ferenc Krausz on their receipt of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics. Their transformative research on attosecond light pulses stands as a monumental achievement in our understanding of ultrafast phenomena, especially the intricate behaviours of electrons. Two of the laureates, Agostini and L'Huillier, have French origins, and their work contributes to the global scientific community from their current academic homes in the United States and Sweden, respectively. We are especially proud of our association with Anne L'Huillier who was a previous editor of EPJ-D, and of the fact that all three have published articles in our journals, including the EPJ series, Web of Conferences, and Journal de Physique. The III Regional Astronomical Summer School and inaugural Inter-Regional Astronomical Summer School (3RASS/1IRASS) successfully concluded on September 15, 2023, at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, Armenia. The theme of the Summer School was “From Observations to Scientific Writing”. Among the highlights of the scientific writing part was a specialised masterclass on "Writing Effective Abstracts and Titles," led by Anne Ruimy, Senior Editor at EDP Sciences and Publisher of Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A). László L. Kiss, A&A’s Board Member for Hungary, gave a two-part lecture on “The Art of Scientific Writing”. Close to thirty Ph.D., M.Sc and B.Sc. students from thirteen Asian and Middle Eastern countries participated in the week-long Summer School.

We are thrilled to announce a significant achievement in our ongoing efforts to elevate the quality of scientific discourse. Two of our journals—EPJ Nuclear Sciences & Technologies and Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications—have been officially included in the list of European Physical Society (EPS) Recognised Journals. This recognition is conferred upon journals that meet the highest quality criteria, which are stringently evaluated to ensure an unbiased, merit-based peer review process. The EPS's unwavering commitment to fostering the highest standards in physics publishing in Europe makes this recognition especially significant.
