Paris, France, 15 March 2022: We are pleased to announce that the CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique, France) has pledged to support the EDP Sciences and SMAI Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) mathematics programme with a financial contribution. The S2O mathematics programme has been developed with the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) with which EDP Sciences publishes a number of maths journals. Together with the funding awarded by the Fonds National pour la Science Ouverte last year, the CNRS contribution will be used to help all the journals included in the programme to continue publishing in open access despite challenging economic conditions.

Paris, France, 8 March 2022: EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) have announced today that six mathematics journals will continue to publish in open access under the Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model in 2022*. This demonstrates the support from the library community for this equitable open access model which enables open access publication without article processing charges (APCs).

We are delighted to announce that the European Optical Society (EOS) has chosen EDP Sciences as its new publishing partner for its peer-reviewed Journal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications (JEOS-RP). From 1 January 2022, JEOS-RP is included in the journals portfolio and the first articles are in production. Sergei Popov, Editor-in-Chief, leads the journal and is ably supported by his Co-Editors Riad Haidar, Gerd Leuchs and Sergei Turitsyn as well as an expert, international Editorial Board.

It is with great sadness that we learnt of the death of Costel Subran who was very dear to us all at EDP Sciences.
Costel was a member of the EDP Sciences Board of Directors for several years, providing us with his expert and sympathetic view. He was also responsible for some of our most beautiful books, such as "La lumière en lumière" or "LumièreS", a magnificent work that was a finalist for the Roberval 2021 Prize.
