In their abstract, the authors state “As a basis, surgeons and scientists used the British intercollegiate general surgery guidance as well as recommendations from the USA, Asia, and Italy. The aim was to take necessary responsibility and to provide guidance for Surgery to COVID-19 crisis in a more simplified practical way addressing the practice of surgery, staff and patient safety and care.”

The guidance addresses the following key areas:

  • Emergency surgery
  • Planned surgery
  • Strategy
  • Operating rooms
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

According to the authors, “Various scientists and clinicians of different specialties provided a pandemic surgery guidance which includes endoscopic procedure to serve as simplified and more practical guide during the exponential spread of the COVID-19 throughout the world.
