“Master classes itinérantes" – on the road for the Société Française de Physique’s 150th anniversary
- Détails
Earlier this year, we wrote about how EDP Sciences is getting involved in the SFP’s 150th anniversary celebrations throughout 2023. In April, for example, we are proud to sponsor the International Physicists’ Tournament 2023 at the École polytechnique in Palaiseau. In May, our books team will be at the Festival Double·Science in Paris. Also in May, the first in a series of five Masterclasses on “Science publishing and Open Science” will take place in Nice.
These “Master classes itinérantes” are aimed mainly at PhD students in physics and its interface with chemistry, mathematics and engineering. The sessions will focus on how to write a scientific article and will also give an overview of scientific publishing and the challenges of Open Science; much like the regular EDP Sciences Science Publishing Masterclasses. The full schedule is:
4-5 May, Nice
5-6 June, Lyon
13-14 June, Grenoble
19-20 June, Strasbourg
9-10 October, Marseille
Agnès Henri, Managing Director, EDP Sciences, will be at the Lyon and Grenoble sessions, while Anne Ruimy, Senior Publisher, EDP Sciences, will be in Strasbourg and in Marseille. They look forward to meeting participants and discussing the issues from the standpoint of an open access science publisher.
The Masterclasses join a busy and varied programme of events to mark the SFP’s anniversary including a play, “Marie Curie, une quête radieuse”, a conference in honour of Louis de Broglie, the inauguration of the Year of Physics, and, of course, the Congrès Général in Paris in July.
We are very much looking forward to the Congrès Général and meeting delegates at our exhibition stand. Agnès Henri will take part in the session "Science ouverte et Evaluation scientifique" and Europhysics Letters (EPL) and the European Physical Journal (EPJ) are sponsoring two prizes each for the best posters presented by young physicists. EPJ is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year - look out for the special coffee break during the congress.
