MMNP ranks Q1 following ground-breaking move to Subscribe-to-Open in 2020

Paris, France, 8 July 2021: We are pleased to report that our mathematics journals have performed particularly well in this year’s Journal Impact Factors ™ from Clarivate. The star performer is Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (MMNP) which increased by 153% (from 1.642 to 4.157) having already increased by 73% last year. It is now ranked 13/108 in “Mathematics, Interdisciplinary Applications”, 6/265 in “Mathematics, Applied” and 10/58 in “Mathematical & Computational Biology” – all Q1 or the top 25% of the world’s most-cited journals. Indeed, every EDP Sciences maths journal indexed in Web of Science ™ has received an increased impact factor contributing to an unprecedented year in which all eligible EDP Sciences journals increased.

It is with great pleasure that the publishers of the European Physical Journal D: Atomic, Molecular, Optical and Plasma Physics announce the appointment of Prof. Dr. Joachim Burgdörfer (Vienna University of Technology, Austria) as Editor-in-Chief, effective 1 July 2021. A long-standing member of the Editorial Board of EPJ D, he succeeds Prof. Dr. Andrey V. Solov'yov, who steps down after almost 7 years in the EiC role. Read more on the EPJ portal.

Paris, France, 1 July 2021: In the latest Journal Citation Reports ™ (JCR) from Clarivate, every eligible* EDP Sciences journal indexed in Web of Science ™ has received an increased impact factor. Overall, there is a 32% increase for the twenty one journals compared to last year. Individual increases range from a modest rise to an impressive 225%. We recognise that impact factors are but one way to measure quality, nevertheless, they continue to be widely-used and recognised and therefore remain significant.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Thierry Maré to the Web of Conferences editorial board where he will support E3S Web of Conferences and the areas of Environment, Energy, Earth Sciences and related subjects.

An Open Access initiative to sustain the barrier-free availability of EDP Sciences' complete mathematics portfolio

Paris / Berlin, June 10, 2021. In May 2021, EDP Sciences announced that its complete mathematics journal portfolio of six subscription titles—including the flagship journal "ESAIM: Mathematical Modelling and Numerical analysis"— transitioned to Open Access (OA) under the innovative Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model. In partnership with Knowledge Unlatched (KU), EDP Sciences will be asking libraries and institutions currently subscribing to any of the six journals to renew for 2021 and beyond on a S2O basis, thus contributing to maintaining these journals Open Access in years to come.

In July 2020, we were pleased to announce that SICOT-J had been accepted for indexation in Scopus, widely recognised as one of the world’s leading science databases. SICOT-J has now been listed under “Orthopedics and Sports Medicine” and “Surgery” and all content from 2020 to date has been included. The process of listing articles from 2015-2019 is in progress and we expect all content to be fully indexed by Scopus shortly.

Paris, France, 19 May 2021: It is confirmed that five mathematics journals published by EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles (SMAI) will join Mathematical Modelling of Natural Phenomena (MMNP) in open access under the Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) model in 2021*. The transition will further bolster S2O, a transformative model first introduced by Annual Reviews and recently endorsed by cOAlition S.

Report details costs and prices related to the EDP Sciences-SMAI Subscribe-to-Open pilot program for mathematics journals

As advocates of open science, EDP Sciences and the Société de Mathématiques Industrielles et Appliquées (SMAI) are pleased to share the first annual report relating to their Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) program in mathematics. The report includes details of the evolution of subscription prices, renewal targets, publication costs and other key measures. Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) is a transformative model first introduced by Annual Reviews and recently endorsed by cOAlition S. It aims to transition subscription journals to open access, without charging authors to publish, by leveraging existing library procurement processes.

We are proud to announce the publication of “Acoustics of the banjo: measurements and sound synthesis” by Jim Woodhouse, David Politzer, and Hossein Mansour. This is the first “Audio Article” to appear in Acta Acustica and introduces an exciting new article type with embedded audio files for ultra-rich content. A companion scientific article by the same authors is also available, “Acoustics of the banjo: theoretical and numerical modelling”.
