We are pleased to share the Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A) Subscribe to Open (S2O) 2022 Transparency Report. This is the first transparency report and provides a range of information related to the A&A Subscribe to Open program including:

Following a period of re-evaluation by Scopus, it has been confirmed that E3S Web of Conferences meets the content selection standards of Scopus. E3S Web of Conferences will therefore continue to be indexed in Scopus and any content that was paused during the re-evaluation period will be added to Scopus by the end of the year.

We are pleased to inform you that Security and Safety is accepting submissions for its Special Issue on “Security and Safety in the “Metaverse””. The term “Metaverse” was first used in the science fiction novel “Snow Crash” in 1992 and describes “a virtual world parallel to the real world”. Thirty years later, and especially since 2021, the “Metaverse” is more popular than ever and considers various information technologies such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and communication networks.

The Journal of ExtraCorporeal Technology moves to EDP Sciences and becomes fully open access

We are delighted to introduce >National Science Open (NSO), a new international, peer-reviewed, open access journal. NSO disseminates the most influential research of profound impact in advancing human knowledge, covering the full arc of natural sciences and engineering and is supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is led by Editor-in-Chief, Professor Yue Zhang, University of Science and Technology Beijing. There are also six Executive Editors-in-Chief representing different disciplines and all of them are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The theme of International Open Access Week 2022 is “Open for Climate Justice”.

“Sharing knowledge is a human right, and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries.”

Congratulations to our longstanding colleague, Alain Aspect, Université Paris-Saclay and École Polytechnique, France, for his award of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2022 and to John F. Clauser, USA and Anton Zeilinger, University of Vienna, Austria who also receive the award. According to the official press release, the new laureates have been recognised “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”. The three physicists “have each conducted groundbreaking experiments using entangled quantum states… Their results have cleared the way for new technology based upon quantum information.”.

We are pleased to highlight the recently completed EPJ B topical issue on “Evolutionary Game Theory”. The special issue contains over twenty articles, some of which are open access. The whole issue is free to read until 9 November 2022.
